BOOMSday!

Holy shit, folks. I’m tallying up the submissions for the Doomsday compilation, and we have a total of 19 contributing artists, for a total of one hour and 45 minutes of noise; making this one of the most successful projects to date. So, to all you who chipped in: thanks! Look for the compilation to be released within the next two weeks.

And, for those of you itching to participate in the next project, I can give you a hint. I’m a few days away from making the official announcement (stuck for a name and cover art, at the moment), but you can head over here and download that thing. If you don’t know what to do next, await further instructions. But, I think you’ll figure it out…

Caveat emptor, motherfuckers.

Last call

Last call for alcohol. Last call for your freedom of speech. Drink up, Happy Hour is now enforced by law…*

Or, rather, it’s the last call for the Doomsday project. Interested would-be participants have until end-of-day Saturday to get in their submissions for inclusion.

While you’re waiting, enjoy this parody cover. I know I am…

* And don’t forget our house special. It’s call the Tricky Dicky Screwdriver.

Two Week Warning

Just a reminder – There are two weeks left until the deadline for submissions for Doomsday. So far I have a wonderful collection of tracks to sort through and organize; largely from artists who have never before contributed to an Intelligent Machinery compilation project.

This is going to be a big release. And I’m hoping it gets a little bigger before the end of the month. Go on. Get your submission to me. Don’t let Doomsday happen without you…

Decision, bad decision

What John Ingram should be doing right now: Sleeping.
What John Ingram is doing right now: Drinking wine and listening to noise.
Lesson John Ingram will have learned from this: None.

I am happy to report that the Doomsday compilation project is setting itself up to be a pretty big success. I just received an email submission from the seventh artist, with over a month left until the deadline.

Admittedly, I am a little relieved by this. I’m still gun-shy after the utter failure of the Universal Logic project, so this makes me a little less trepidatious about the idea of hosting more of these projects. And it also means that the people who have already submitted, have not done so in vain – these tracks will see the light of day.

Believe it.

There I go again…

Here’s that promulgation I promised.

Since I announced the Doomsday project, I have pondering how to release it: or, more pointedly rather, through whom should it be released. I reached out to a few people with whom I had dealings in the past, but was losing faith in finding a label that would be willing to make an open-ended arrangement for carte blanche Intelligent Machinery compilation releases.

Faced with the task of finding a new label and distribution for each compilation, I opted for the easier route. I took two steps backwards and decided “Oh, fuck it. Let’s just do this ourselves…”

So, without further ado (that was plenty, I would say), I am somewhat embarrassed to announce the Official Intelligent Machinery Archive.org Collection page:
http://www.archive.org/details/intelligent-machinery

I never intended to get back into the netlabel business, so this is only to serve as an outlet for these compilation projects. Previous compilations that were not already hosted through another label will be added to this collection, as I have time. Moving forward, this will be the official hosting venue for any compilation project I curate.

So, what can we take from this announcement? There won’t be any issues releasing future compilations, but the marketing is going to take a nosedive…

As always, my lovelies, caveat emptor (motherfuckers).
